Another Year, Another Successful MedTech Members' Dinner

MedTech's Annual Members' Dinner is a day-long event that celebrates the collective achievements of MedTech members in a relaxed environment. This year, our dinner was held at the Skaneateles Country Club, a pristine venue located in the Onondoga County town of the same name. Near perfect weather accentuated the surrounding landscapes and made for a memorable experience.

Upon arrival, members were able to partake in a team-oriented game of golf, an activity which has become a staple of our annual gatherings, or a specialized Taste of Skaneateles Tour. The latter included a trolley ride to native wineries, breweries, and distilleries. Both activities allowed members to enjoy themselves and take advantage of the day.

As the day progressed, members migrated from the outdoor events to inside the country club for hors d'oeuvre and a networking session. Over 80 professionals from across New York state came to represent their companies and establish new connections within the biotech and medical industries.

Besides the catered dinner complete with Sugar & Co provided deserts, the highlight of the night was certainly the engaging keynote presentation by Alton Shader, current President of Welch Allyn. Hearing from a business leader who is not only tenured and distinguished, but also a resident of the Skaneateles area was a great opportunity for dinner attendees. Mr. Shader touched upon his personal background and history with Welch Allyn, as well as the role the company will play in the medical supply industry moving forward.

Following the presentation, the evening concluded with an awards ceremony for this year's outstanding MedTech members. Three companies were recognized for exceptional work in their respective fields and for fully utilizing the benefits provided by our company.

Our Primary Member of the Year, Curbell Medical has been a leading medical device manufacturer specializing in signaling devices and related accessories ranging from Nurse Call system pillow speakers to ECG cables and lead wires for over 70 years.

Associate Member of the Year and MedTech Metro Sponsor Loeb & Loeb LLP is a multiservice law firm with approximately 350 attorneys focusing on select practice areas, rather than endeavoring to be all things to all clients. The firm is recognized as a leading law firm in the areas of advertising and marketing; media and entertainment; intellectual property; real estate; technology; tax exempt organizations and private client services.

Research Member of the Year Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, NY, is the only academic medical center in Central New York. Featuring over 9,200 employees, this affiliate with the State University of New York is the region's largest employer. Upstate's mission is to improve the health of the community through education, biomedical research and health care.

Last but not least, we recognized Rory O'Connor of The Gooding Company as this Year's Outstanding Individual Member. Next week I'll be posting an interview I conducted with Mr. O'Connor, so be sure stay posted for his insight.

The 2017 Member's Dinner was certainly one for the books. As MedTech moves forward and continues to grow, it will be difficult for us to recreate a more advantageous event for our members. However, the tireless work ethic and meticulousness of our employees leads me to believe that our best is yet to come.
